I was disappointed with the durability of this KONG toy. After giving it to my two 9-month-old Labs, the rope was chewed in half within 10 minutes, leaving only the ball of the toy intact. I will be looking for a different brand to purchase from next time.

I own a 65lb pit bull mix who is a very strong chewer, despite missing several teeth from a previous car accident. The only toy that can withstand his chewing is the black Kong Extreme. While some shapes may be more durable than others, the ball shape holds up well. I took a chance on the version with a rope, but unfortunately, it was torn apart within 10 minutes. I prefer sticking to just the ball next time as it is a great option for my pup’s chewing habits.

Both of my dogs enjoy playing with this toy, but I had to take it away due to the easily detachable strings that pose a serious risk if ingested. Surgery may be required if the strings cause complications like intestinal blockage, which could be life-threatening. Please exercise caution with this toy and always supervise your dog during playtime. While this toy is generally good, there should be modifications to make the strings less prone to being torn apart by dogs.

Kong Extreme – perfect for strong dogs, great for biting and tugging. Nice combination of ball with strap for throwing – the strap moves freely through the ball. A bit pricey, but can withstand even a large breed like a Molosser.
